  • Height 18 – 22 inches

  • Color Black – Chestnut – Fawn – gray – with or without white markings

The 1991 Atlas states that Jean-Claude Hermans, then the president & founder of the Barbet Club in France, credits the Barbet with being the foundation that produced the Briard, the Newfoundland and the Poodle.

The modern Barbet is an excellent water dog, using his webbed feet to advantage in swimming, never tiring after long hours.

His personality is noted as gay, obedient and intelligent. These qualities and his fidelity make him a valued companion.

When the above was written in 1991, there were only about 200 Barbet left in all of France.

The Barbet is a very rare and special dog.
